Community. Workplace. Charitable Giving.
Denholm Energy Services strives to be a good corporate citizen and we are committed, at all times, to doing business in a responsible way by ensuring that we have a positive impact on our stakeholders, the environment and wider communities.
Our goal is to provide a workplace where everyone can work safely and healthily, and to operate in an environmentally and socially responsible manner. We endeavour to have a positive impact in the local communities we operate within, not only through employment, training and development of the local workforce, but also through activities that provide wider social benefits.
Our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Committee plays a key part in driving the efforts focusing on three key areas: workplace, community and charitable giving.
COMMUNITY
Workforce engagement with the local community includes a wide range of activities. In 2019, within the UK 153 hours were donated to our local communities covering activities such as; child mentoring through MCR Pathways, donation of time to support isolated members of the community, donation of time working in pop up shops and collections for Glasgow Children's Hospital Charity, recycling initiatives and acting as local community receiving points for The Christmas stocking appeal donations for Friends of The Neuro Ward.
Overseas Group staff engaged in a beach clean in Dubai and provided support to staff volunteering at a cancer research centre, a blood donation campaign facilitated, and support is being provided for training local university students.
WORKPLACE
We are committed to providing healthy, equitable and fulfilling workplaces where out workers can flourish, with appropriate development opportunities that support good health and wellbeing. We are taking a proactive approach to mental health by educating all our employees and introducing the Balanced Programme. The programme sets an expected standard of all employees of the Group in dealing with a variety of health and wellbeing related issues with a particular focus on mental health awareness, training and risk assessments.
Notable successes in pursuit of this goal, achieved by Group companies, have included the attainment of our first Gold Award under the Healthy Working Lives accreditation scheme and 2019, we brought in four apprentices over a number of the Group companies.
CHARITABLE GIVING
We are committed to charitable giving and the encouragement of charitable giving by the workforce. The CSR Committee is responsible for guiding and supporting the Group in contributing to the local communities in which they operate, with the selection of nominated local and national charities.
In 2019, the total amount raised across many different charities supported by the group was over £58,000. When staff raise money for a charity, or give to a charity, the Group has matched donations up to a maximum level, which is currently £400 per event. These matching contributions are included in charitable donations in the year.
